The design of the patch is based on the coat of arms of Guam. It shows the land, sea, and sky, with an ancient flying proa (canoe) approaching the beach near the mouth of the Agana River. And there is a palm tree in the foreground. The shape of the patch is that of the stones the ancient Chamorros used to sling
